After graduating SFP i attended CUNY-Barauch College for only two semesters. that was the first year of "open enrollment' and I was "bumped" from going to Queens college because of my ethnic background. I had been working since a teenager at the NY Fruit Auction a large facility adjacent to hunts Pt Terminal market. My father, Bob Sr was a fruit auctioneer, a now dead profession. Working as a "checker" during the day and a longshoreman at nite unloading rr cars and over the road trucks i was given a f/t position and 200 per wk! by this time I was sharing an apartment with two other friends and enjoying the "disco" party scene in NYC and LI. The 70's were a most explorational time. I had decided I wanted to b a cop, NYPD was experiencing layoff's and took a test for the MPDC, Washington's Finest. ause I was non-CS and had lead the investigation of a sitting police commissioner and the mayor-elect, I was hired by the Brooklyn DA's office. While early on in the DA's office I became involved in a line-of-duty police shooting and was awarded the Police Combat Cross and was taken into the NYPD Honor Legion. I worked inter-agency task forces, serving on TF's of the USSS, USCS, the DEA. While working in the money-laundering/narcotic unit i was severely injured and several years of LOD status forced my retirement from police work, completing 25 years. While still out on LOD I suffered a stroke because of financial hardships NYC was placing me through. Nearly lost our house and was told to apply for Food stamps. 3/4 retirement is not all it is talked up to be but GOD has allowed me and my family to have little actual needs. Now awaiting Ordination as a Lutheran Pastor, I have had 'cure" of congregations for the past 5 years from the so bronx to NW Bronx where i currently serve. married to Barbara for 22 years and the parents of three kids, Andrew-20, Lauren-17, Zach-13 we are blessed ORDAINED : 12-3-11 Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation, Garden City NY--PASTOR: Epiphany Lutheran Church, Bronx NYC.
