Robert's Story
Life
After graduating from El Dorado High School I went to LA Tech for BA and MA. I was a teaching assistant during my MA work and then went to Texas A&M for my PhD work (1982-85), teaching American history there. Just after finishing my coursework (ABD), the US Air Force offered me an internship with its history program. Chuna-hwa (Elena) and I married soon thereafter. We've lived in Alabama, Louisiana, Texas (twice), Arizona, England, and are now in the process of moving to Tokyo, Japan. I've also been involved...Expand for more
in the Kosovo War, humanitarian operations in South Africa and Mozambique. Fun stuff!
Workplace
The bio questions don't really get there. I've worked for the US government (USAF) for the last 17 years as an historian. This unusual job has taken me to England, throughout Europe, Africa, and now Japan. So far I've been in one war and four humanitarian operations--the latest was the tsunami relief effort in January 2005. I write history, teach American history with the University of Maryland sometimes, and travel.
