Robert's Story
Life
Still making music after all these years. In the process of starting my own record label/production company, while managing and producing a variety of recording artists. I left N.C. for California in the late 80's, where I lived for about 15 years. There, I played music, wrote some magazine articles, coached youth sports, and started a video and film production facility, which later morphed into a graphics house. After leaving that company, I moved to Austin, TX, then back to N.C. where I currently sell insurance by day, planning my escape to the easy life by night. It is likely that I will move back to California one of these days, assuming they stop issuing IOU's. Oh, and the long hair in those pictures...it's gone. I finally cut my hair a dew years ago. That was a good call.
School
After years of trauma from totalitarian, redneck elementary and middle school teachers, I finally arrived at Crest High School. The hazing that awaited me was being beat-up daily (then...Expand for more
stuffed in the trashcan!) by bullies who called all new students "narc". :)
Watching the film, "Dazed and Confused" was frighteningly similar in too many ways. Seeing that movie was more like reading a diary than attending the cinema. When I think of my alma mater, I am immediately transformed back to Drama class. For the first time in my life, I was taken seriously by someone other than misfits. Frankly, I didn't know how to respond. I really wasn't worthy of being in the company of so many great people. Maybe I really was Renfield... :)
Workplace
Except for the occasional hard labor (loading boxcars, unloading 18-wheelers), I have managed to do everything on my "to do" list from childhood - all revolving around the entertainment industry. I tried it all until I found my niche, which was, needless to say, music. If I had it to do all over again, I'd still do the smorgasbord route, sampling a bit of each. Still trying to get rich, too, so I can give all the money away.
