Roberta's Story
Life
A night-hawk forever ... I'm happiest working the nightshift!
I've turned a whole new page in my life ... divorced, moved from upstate New York to Farmington, NH. I've been working at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital{night-shift... 3 12-hr shifts /week}since April 2003 and have resumed the use of my maiden name. I'm a Registered Professional Nurse.
I have a Mini. Schnauzer, a Giant Schnauzer {a rescue}, a Maine Coon Cat, and a Palomino Morgan horse. Rode my horse, Topaz, in Sandown, NH's PIONEER DAYS parade on August 7, 2004.
Moved to NH because there are no State income taxes here and I'm closer to the beach! My home is near Baxter Lake, where I own beach rights.
Starting a whole new life here in the land of "Live Free or Die!" And so far, it's wonderful!
College
Started out at Bay Path Junior College ... commuting. Hated it there, but finished out the year.
Next was Eastern CT State, where I was drafted into the Spanish Program. I wanted to succeed, so I coerced my parents into sending me first for to Puerto Rico with a Sociology class from Eastern and then with the American Institute of Foreign Study to Salamanca, SPAIN for m...Expand for more
y Junior Year Abroad.
Had a blast in SPAIN! When I returned for my last year at Eastern, I got into the teaching mode, working with 6th graders teaching them mathematics in Spanish and also teaching an Eastern {College} Intermediate Level Spanish course. That was fun and challenging.
I was being rebellious, though, and did everything except my student teaching rotation, so when I graduated from Eastern, I wound up working for Sears, Roebuck & Co. That's how I ended up in Upstate New York ... as part of the management team at Colonie Center in Albany.
I finally went back to school and graduated from the evening division of Russell Sage College {JCA} with a degree in nursing.
Workplace
Sometimes I feel like I'm a "Jack of all trades - Master of none!" But at least I'm flexible.
I'm an RN, have taught in the Medical Assistant Program at Bryant & Stratton College, Albany, NY, I'm great with computers, type, sell AVON, and even have my own business on the side.
Called "Munchkin's Manor", it's a computerized embroidery business.
I'm also into photography and have just invested in a full professional scale digital photography outfit.
