Robin Lee's Story
We moved to Aston in Jan 1962 -I had a real deep Southern accent from Alexandria Va. Mrs.Yikes' 5th grade class read the Bible every morning and George Rhodes said it was the new kid's job to read every morning. How was I to know he was in love with my accent? And none of the other kids told me he was just teasing me. Jeeze. LOL Zeno Chemanas was the 5th grade English teacher. The next year 6th grade- 3 classrooms full of us were sent to Sun Valley HS. The Junior High kids shared the school with the High School kids in split sessions until Brookhaven Jr High was built. Our class was the first 7th grade, the following year. Aston /Brookhaven and Parkside were bursting with children born in 1951. Does anyone remember going into Philly for the Children concerts at the Academy of Music? I gradu...Expand for more
ated from Sun Valley in 1969. Then on to Penn State for law Enforcement and Corrections. Worked for a year in Juvenile Corrections then retail then Civil Law Enforcement with the Federal Government -along the way picked up accounting. Retired now and looking to downsize. Doing some creative writing in a local group and going to the gym. I love New Jersey but the cost of living and taxes are cutting into my fun money. In touch with more and more classmates of 1969 SVHS friends every day on Facebook. TREATED myself to a 60th Birthday Trip to Alaska -used all my saving and it was soooo worth it -I LOVE being 60! My latest stress test said my heart was better than it was after my heart attack in 2003 -now if I could just loose the weight a little faster. Saving for my next trip to Hawaii in 2013.
