I went from Watsonville over to Cabrillo, studied electronics for 3 semesters, minus one for that broken leg collected on Bear Mountain, skiin! Then I got into Cal Poly, SLO, and discovered AeroSpace Engineering! I loved the idea, but Calculus never did me any good, with my nose mushed hard onto the textbook. Back up to the Bay area, I got some time in as a draftsman, trying to make a missile that would kill other missles in mid-air, before we got kicked out of 'Nam. Moved into the back of that GMC Pickup, wandered the Pacific NorthWest, "in search of work." Fat chance, with every other draftsman in the entire US searching for the same non-existant jobs! That brings us to 1976, when I volunteered for the US Air Force. Same one I didn't make the cut for the Academy, but as an enlisted fool. Two years of starving myself thin enough to just make their cutoff as I enlisted, then another 2 years eating chow like I was a marching GI, no diet food available! 1978; I didn't make it to Korea, on account of my ever-growing weight, but I did get a medal as a marksman for a perfect score on the rifle range, with that ...Expand for more
