Rodger's Story
Left HS in junior year to join the army, Boot camp at Fort dix, NJ, then advanced infantry, airborne Fort Bragg, on to sniper school Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base, to Vietnam for first tour, returned for Ranger School. and Special Forces training at Fort Bragg, assigned to Vint Hill Farm Station for six months, then to Jungle warfare school in Panama, then on to Philippines for Survival School and Escape and Evasion School, then to Vietnam for 2nd tour as an Infantry Scout, assigned to detached duty with MAC-V-SOG, served as the sniper on a six man Scout Team, back to states for six months then back to Vietnam and back to SOG, Separated from army in January 1966, went to work a...Expand for more
s a policeman in Wichita, KS, while there attended Wichita State University, Sociology Major, Was offered a job in Santa Barbara County, CA As a Deputy Sheriff/Deputy Coroner. Recalled to active duty for 1968 TET offensive and separated again in late 1969. Wounded 3 times, given a disability separation, called back to active duty to teach at the Military Intelligence School at Fort Devens, MA. Served my first year there on loan to Turkish Army, served one year in that capacity in Sinop, Turkey on the Black sea and then returned to Devens to teach Soviet Weapons and tactics.
