Ron's Story
Life
After graduating from Stagg, I began my college studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After three semesters there I served a two year mission for the LDS Church in Mexico City. Returning to BYU, I continued my studies and received my B.A. in Motion Picture and Television Production. It was at BYU where I met and married my wife. We have a son and two daughters, two grandchildren with one more on the way!
After college, I spent sixteen years working in television production. We lived in West Virginia, New Mexico, and Colorado.
In August 1994 we moved to Rexburg, Idaho where I began teaching broadcasting at Ricks College. We are now Brigham Young University - Idaho.
During February 2002 I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to work for the Host Broadcaster of the Winter Olympic Games. I worked at main hockey venue in Salt Lake City. I met some great people and brought back some great information for my broadcasting students.
My curent "Now" photo was taken in August 2010 standing in front of the Danger Tree at the Beaumont Hamel War Memorial. One of the...Expand for more
worst battles of World War One took place at this location in The Somme in northern France on July 1, 1916. I was able to travel with professors from our university's World Civilizations class to shoot video for them in Paris, Versalles, Chartes, Athens, Delphi, Florence, and Rome. What a trip! I created my very first blog about the trip. If you care to read it, I promise it's not long.
If you Google "EuropeByViewfinder" you'll find the link that will take you there.
Plans are being made for a similar trip in April 2012 to go to India and do the same thing. I've been invited to attend!
My wife Jacque and I had every intention of attending the 40th class reunion. Unfortunately I wound up laid up for a week just prior to the reunion and could not attend. We all know how hard it is for the reunion committee to plan these reunions, but I sure hope that they do a 45th!
We have a great "backyard" with Grand Teton National Park 90 miles to the east and Yellowstone National Park 90 miles to the north. So if you are ever in our neighborhood, please stop in Rexburg and give us a call!
