Ronald D.'s Story
Life
Past Rock County Commander for the American Legion. I am Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14 Beloit and Life Member of the Beloit VFW Post 2306
School
Started at Converse Elementary on the west-side, till half way through 3rd grade then was transferred to Cunningham Elementary (also on the west side)due to over crowding. You know oddly enough both of these schools were on the same street Townline Ave. then from there followed the 2-2-2 system that was in place in Beloit in those days, Lincoln Junior High School, grades 7 and 8(notice that classmates.com shows it as a middle school, never was named middle anything, I even emailed classmates.com, but ya know how that goes) then on to Beloit Memorial High School - Aldrich Campus, grades 9 and 10. Then to Beloit Memorial High School - Main Campus for 11th and 12th. I know there are hundreds of you fellow class mates out there from Beloit that went through the same 2-2-2 system. I believe it was an awesome split, only an average of a year to year and a half age difference between us at any school once we left elementary level. Did not have to worry about Seniors or juniors ruffing up a freshmen. I feel Beloit messed up when the went to the Current system in place, less control on the Students, less time with the majority of the students. Please contact Classmates.com to historically correct Lincoln's name
Workplace
First Job was Newspaper delivery for the Beloit Daily News, Then worked for almost 4 years at McDonald's (was the only one in town then, on Madison Road). Then went to work for my Brother at his restaurants (C.W. Shaw's Hamburgers - the old Mr. Quick's by Aldrich), enlisted in the U.S. Army for 4 years. After being Honorably discharge, I applied at Beloit Corp. for the Engineering Mechanical Drafting Co-op program at Dunwoody Intitute of T...Expand for more
