Life
Served as Conscientious Objector 1970-1972; Married (Julianne) since 1974; two children, Caitlyn (1986) and Jason (1992); employed, University of Chicago (Academic Adviser, Dean of Students Office); graduate of Missouri State University, BA in Antiquities (1976); Ph.D. in Near Eastern Archaeology, University of Chicago (1990); Director, Cadir Hoyuk Excavations (the ancient Hittite cult center of Zippalanda), Turkey (1993-2010). Worked with Street gangs and heroin addicts in Chicago at Teen Challenge (1970-73) as well as with Crossfire Gang Outreach. Work and travel abroad include Greece, Israel, Turkey, Armenia, Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia. Research Associate, Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.
