Ronald's Story

After High School I went to NAIT. My father died while I was attending NAIT and I wound up repeating a few of my courses but graduated in 1972 with a Chemical Technology degree. I worked at the O.S.Longman building in Edmonton for a few years but got restless. I joined the military in 1974 but a freak accident during officer training at Chilliwack, B.C. forced me to decide whether to take the course all over again (only had a week left) or get an honorable discharge. I chose the latter and went into a full gospel bible college in Edmonton shortly after I got back to Devon (spent the summer doing a security job on West End). During my first year of bible college I met my present wife of nearly 40 years at the Corp of Commissionaires office in Edmonton. I needed to work part time in order to pay the rent and she just got out of the military and needed a temp job as she was thinking of only staying for a bit then moving back to B.C. with her friend who left the military with her. She was here because her sister lived in Leduc at the time. After a few mishaps and miracles, ... we were married the following year in the fall, the same year my sister got married actually (no I wasn't copying her). I left bible college in the 2nd year and found employment with Canada Post. Worked as a letter carrier for 15 years in St. Albert, but lived in Morinville. I left the Post Office and went back to school and got my Computer Maintenance Tech degree and...Expand for more
my wife got her Residential Nurses Aide degree. We sold our home in Morinville and moved to St. Albert over 20 years ago where we live today. I have 3 children and 4 grand children, am a cancer survivor of 35 years (my dad died of the same type of cancer). My wife works at the local hospital and has done so for over 15 years. I tinkered with computers for over 10 years and had my own business called Compu+Medic and fixed so many computers I got sick of it and won't even fix my own computer now. About 7 years ago I became the assistant manager of Chevron Edmonton where I am now. Will probably follow in my father's footsteps and work till I die or get hospitalized. I have worked since I was 12 years old ... and see no reason to stop as long as I can do the job. Besides ... I want to make sure my wife is well cared for after I am gone, though she keeps telling me she isn't ready for me to go just yet. I just tell her to pray for that next miracle (have had so many already). God has been very gracious to us and has provided for our every need, even when things looked their darkest. Just so you know ... we go to Victory Life Church here in St. Albert and I do the editing and uploading of every Sunday's message to the church's website. Yeah I still use computers allot ... just hate fixing them. ^_^ God bless you and I hope everyone from the class of 69 has a saving knowledge of our Lord and God Christ Jesus, so that we can meet again. Amen.
