Ronald's Story
Well, whatever you may think, the doctors said I was normal when the Army discharged me.
I'm a retired Soldier. I joined the United States Army Signal Corps as a Private First Class in 1981, and served for 26 years. I'm a Persian Gulf War veteran and a former paratrooper. My last assignment was at the White House Communications Agency, where I served as a First Sergeant in charge of teams that provided mobile global communications for the President, Vice President, White House Staff, and the First Lady. I officially retired on June 1st, 2007.
The Army moved me around quite a bit over the years. I've been stationed near Fayetteville, NC; Illesheim, West Germany; Augusta, GA; Tongduchon, South Korea; Killeen, TX; Florence, KY; Wuerzburg, Germany; Fayetteville, NC (again); and, finally, Washington, D.C. Many of these moves provided great travel opportunities. My family and I have seen much of Europe and the US.
For about five years after military retirement, I was a contractor employed by ITT Exelis, working as a Communications Project Engineer in Washington, DC. I was assigned to an FAA contract, coordinating the leasing and installation of communications links between the FAA and the military.
Currently, I work for a government contracting company, Analytical Services and Materials, Inc (AS&M)., as a Contract Program Manager. I work on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, near Dayton, Ohio. I supervise the people that provide operational support to the wind tunnel facilities at the Air Fo...Expand for more

I completed a master's degree in secondary education, from Old Dominion University, in May 2007. I completed a second masters degree in business management and leadership, from Liberty University in 2013.
In 2010, I acquired my Project Management Professional certification (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, and, in 2011, a Lean Six Sigma Sensei certification (CLSSS) from Villanova University. CLSSS is a certification in quality control and efficiency training.
I'm happily married to the former Jo Ann Julian of Troy, Ohio. She's also an Army Signal Corps veteran. Jo Ann is an elementary school teacher. She is a graduate of Liberty University. Jo Ann took full course loads while working full time and still graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010. She earned her master's degree from Liberty as well, with honors, in 2017. She's an awesome wife, mother, worker and friend.
We have four children: Andrea, Melissa, Jacob and James. All are grown. Andrea is an elementary school teacher. She is married to Jerry Bortner, a US Army Ordnance Corps officer. They have given us us two grandchildren, Ellie in 2015 and Madeline in 2018. Melissa is General Manager of an apartment complex in Alexandria, VA. Jacob did some time the US Army Military Intelligence Corps and now lives in Colorado as a contracted security guard. James shares an apartment with his sister, Melissa, and works as an apartment complex concierge in Crystal City, VA.
God has truly blessed us.
