Ron's Story
Formal Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the Univ. of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL) in 1969
- Master's Degree in Business Administration -Aviation (With Distinction) from
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Univ. in 2002
Military Service
After graduating in June 1969 from UNL, I was commissioned as an Officer.in the U.S, Air Force, and in October,,1971, I completed USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training. From then until June of 1980, I served in the Air Force as a combat-qualified C-130E co-pilot, aircraft commander, flight instructor, and flight examiner. I was honorably discharged in June 1980.

n Washington, DC. I steadily progressed from Manager of Operations, to Director of Operations, Vice-President, Senior Vice- President and finally President of GAMA. I retired from GAMA in 2007, but still maintain a rigorous schedule and live in Washington, D.C,
Volunteer Activities
As a volunteer advocate for seniors in D.C., I was appointed by the Mayor to the D.C. Commission on Aging (serving as Vice-Chair) and to the Age-Friendly D.C. Task Force.. Additionally, I have served on AARP-DC's Executive Council for more than three years.. I recently received AARP-DC's highest recognition for volunteer service - the Ethyl Percy Andrus Award. It is presented annually to a single volunteer in each State who generously dedicates their experience, talent, and skills to enriching the lives of older adults in their community.
