Rose's Story
Life
Life turned out a lot different from what I had mapped out when I left school. I hit a couple of speed bumps and did a few u-turns, but looking back I wouldn't change much. After high school I moved around here and there, saw some sights, had some fun, made a few mistakes, and ended up moving back to the area a lot wiser and a little older. I now have a meaningful job doing what I love, bought a house, and just got married to a wonderful guy. I'm just about where I planned on being by now, I just took the scenic route.
School
I left Mac-Hi my senior year and went to Wa-Hi. Never spent a day on campus, just went to college and graduated with part of my degree done. Continued to go college off and on and am now seriously pursuing my degree in social work.

Workplace
Wow - Almost ten years since graduation, what a ride. I have been working in the developmental disabilities field ever since high school and really can't imagine doing anything else. I have been very fortunate to work with great people, staff and clients, and do some awesome things. I went from being a line staff with Horizon Project in Milton-Freewater to a program manager in Coeur d'Alene for a similair agency. I reconnected with old friends when I went back to work at Horizon Project as a program coordinator in Hermiston and Pendleton and then moved to Walla Walla County as a Rehabilitation Case Manager. I am now going to work for Umatilla County as Developmental Disabilities Service Coordinator. Each change brings even more challenges and rewards.
