Rosemary's Story
The August after high school graduation I eloped with Nick Hunt, whom I had dated during my junior and senior year. Nick had already received his draft notice. Nick is a FSU graduate, but he enlisted in the Air Force rather than take a commission in the army. During his enlistment we lived in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Cape Cod and outside of Madrid, Spain. I worked and went to school wherever we were.
When Nick finished his tour with the Air Force we came back to SC. I finished my BA in Secondary Ed. at the College of Charleston and we moved to Beaufort, SC, where Nick managed and then owed an independent insurance agency. I taught Spanish in public and private area schools for nineteen years as well as ESL to adults. I teach Spanish at the Technical College of the Lowcountry were I have been employed for the past twenty years.

work in Spain. I received my MA in Spanish from Californina State, Sacramento after study in Mexico and Central America. Twenty years ago I participated in a Fulbright-Hayes study program in Korea.
Nick and I have one adopted daughter, Tabitha. She came to us when she was six years old. She has two sons and lives in Virginia, where is is a nurse in a large emergency department.
Nick and I started hosting foreign exchange students back in 1983. We have hosted twenty students over the years. We stay in close contact with several of them and frequently exchange visits. Both Nick and I love to travel. We have visited five continents and hope to make it to all seven. My bucket list also includes all fifty states. I have six to go.
My father died in 2002, and my mother in 2019. My sisters, Diane and Sylvia, also live in Charleston. My sister, Carolyn divides her time between Aiken and Beaufort.
