Rosita (Rosie)'s Story
I went to my first year of college at Fairleigh Dickinson but I wasn't inspired so I worked at Prudential Insurance and as soon as I earned enough money, my best friend, Kathy, and I decided to go backpacking in Europe. (I must admit, I was inspired to travel by a guy named Jack, an older boy from MHS who would visit my family and tell us about his many travel adventures.) Kath and I backpacked all over Europe for 3 months and we were supposed return to the US but when we got to Paris, I just couldn't leave! I stayed in Paris for awhile, then traveled and worked in Spain, France and England. That was one of the best years of my life! When I got back to the US, I went to Essex County College, got married, and then we spent two years in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico continuing our studies at the Universidad de las Americas. e moved to Houston, Tucson and then San Marcos, TX where we lived on a ranch and had quite a menagerie of dogs, cats, goats and chickens. I graduated from Southwest Texas State University.
Along the way, I got divorced, and then moved to Montana and became an archaeologist. I worked on many projects all over the US and enjoyed my career immensely. I loved working in the science community and working outdoors, especially in Alaska.
Eventually, I settled down in South Florida and became an elementary school teacher, and later, I worked for Continental Airlines and then became a travel agent. I've been in Florida for 30 years. I love the sunshine and the ocean.
I didn't have children but I have a sweet goddaughter, Dana, who is like a daughter to me. And of course, since I love animals, I have a dog named HapiBoi and a black cat named Father Guido Sarducci.
