Roxie's Story

School After high school worked as Operating Room Tech at McKennan in Sioux Falls also worked on surgical floor as an aide attended LPN school really enjoyed my classmates two roomates who were engaged to guys in Vietnam so we studied and dreamt about all the money we would make some day did lots of window shopping furniture cars and houses College see school profile for college Workplace I worked at McKennan 3 years plus went to nursing school in Sioux Falls, married 4 months after graduating from nursing school, moved to Yankton ,worked at Sacred Heart Hospital,Yankton Care Center,Sacred Heart Hospital stayed home with my kids for 8 years took a nursing refresher course from Brookings back to work 1990 at Sacred Heart Monestary private nursing home for the nuns woman who were pioneers in becoming educated ,the education the majority of them have is awsome. I love working with these intelligant woman. 72 years old sat down and learned the computer. They never stop learning, because of age, what an incredible example for the rest of us. I am also involved in counseling battered woman, rape victims, and victims of incest. This I do on a volunteer basis. This also helped me grow as a person. There are also a lot of men out there who have been abused. It takes a lot of courage and a strong heart to do this job. Military My father was in WW2 As a family we know war affects the whole family, my mom and us kids. Our father suffered from PTSD. There were times when we triggered his past, when he thought we were the enemy. There was no help for him except alcohol to numb the pain We would see him become violent in seconds a completely differant person. When he would lay down for a nap, we had to stand across the room when we woke him he would come up off the couch swinging, He trusted no one. As a child I believed he was cruel I thought he was like two people the father that loved us ...Expand for more
played with us laughed with us and felt like we were the most important part of his life to the person who became a monster and terrorized us .You never knew if you were safe. It was not a part of our world. We were living the same horrors he did, went through the same terrors. As a child I would have nightmares of hiding from the enemy,my whole family was hiding with me, yes I caught their fear. I also felt the love and appreciation that my parents had for this country so proud to be an American. I realize how much our ancesters did for us how they risked their LIVES so that I might live in the greatest country in the world My attitude is if you are not willing to give up your life for your country and your family then you can get the hell out. You don't deserve to live in a country like ours. America doesn't owe you anything You owe America and your ancesters your gratatude because without the people who sacrificed their life for you .You would have no freedom . If you don't love what our country stands for you are not an American. If you want to be better or look down on your fellow Americans. If you do not believe in democracy ; want to controll your fellowman, then you are not an American. You are a dictator; you are a terrorist who tries to foce your personal agenda on your fellowman . For those of you who claim to be christians THINK about this Jesus gave us free choice SO if you are forcing your personal beliefs on others that is not from GOD there is one who will lie, twist words around and terrorize people into their way of thinking and believing. The gifts of the holy spirit is LOVE JOY PEACE PATIENCE LONG-SUFFERING FORGIVENESS PERSERVERANCE self controll gentleness humility wisdom As a christian it is your job to work on yourself and not to waste your time by criticizing others like my mom always said sweep your own doorstep first YES AMERICA LET US SWEEP OUR OWN DOORSTEP FIRST.
