roy's Story
Flew to Boston in Sept, 1954 and arrived just before a hurricane hit. Graduated MIT in 1958. Went to California for two years. Went to Cal. Tech. and UCLA grad schools. Returned to Cambridge for two years and worked for IBM on celestial mechanics. Then got a PhD from MIT in 1965. Worked for MIT Lincoln Labs. for 3 years, on detection of underground nuclear explosions. Then went to Penn State Univ. where I was a Prof. of Geophysics for 33 years. Got Married to Diane in 1961 and was married for 43 years until her death in 2004. Have thee sons who all left home about college time. . Lived in a house 1 block from Penn State University until 2020 when I moved to independent living in State College. Played tennis (as in high school), skied, and after retirement I did a lot of bike trips around Europe. My parents moved to Manhattan about time I finished college. My mother moved back to Hollywood when farther died. I visited her til her death in 1999.
