Roy's Story
FAMILY:
I met the love of my life, Robbie Singleton (Columbus GA High School - Class of 1975), on Panama City Beach during Spring Break '77, and we had 30 very special years together after that chance meeting. Tragically and suddenly, I lost her to undetected ischemic heart disease in June 2007. Robbie and I were married in 1980 and have a daughter, now 26 and married, and a grandson born July 8, 2008!
COLLEGE & CAREER:
After a year at Alabama, I earned my pilot's license at Bessemer Airport in 1975, and transferred to Auburn (War Eagle!) for the Aviation Management program. (I still love opportunities to fly...Expand for more
for business or pleasure.)
After graduation from Auburn in 1978, I moved to Atlanta for a career with Eastern Airlines (we all know how that worked out!). During the years with Eastern, my family and I toured the southeast (living in Atlanta twice, Orlando twice, and Charlotte for less than a year). I spent a little time with Delta Air Lines in Atlanta after Eastern went out of business, and later moved to Richmond VA for a position in airport management. I am currently in Charlotte, and still involved in airport management and planning.
