Russ's Story
Life
After high school, I headed south to attend school at Florida State. I got my biology degree and in the year before I started med school, Jeannette (a cute redhead from Sarasota) and I ended our nearly two year engagement by getting married.
I finished medical school at the U. of Florida in 1988, and then headed west to do my residency and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the U. of New Mexico. While in Albuquerque, we had our two kids, Alyx (now 18) and Adam (now 15). Alyx just returned to Albuquerque and is planning to study Microbiology at UNM. Adam is living with my parents and attending high school in Perkins, OK (much happier in a smaller town/school). Jeannette and I are therefore premature empty nesters.

I've always remained involved in music. Currently, I'm playing keyboards and singing backup in an awesome Elvis tribute band (kingrockandroll.com). I also am part of the worship team at Greeley Wesleyan (streaming at greeleywesleyan.org). I've also dragged out my trombone from time to time, and sang in barbershop quartets/chorus for a few years.
In 2005, I fulfilled a longtime dream, and started hosting a talk radio program, Shrink Rap, on 1310KFKA. It now airs 6-8 PM ET on Saturdays. (live streaming at 1310KFKA.com)
I also got into ham radio/storm chasing. Fortunately, most Colorado storms (except the 5/22 tornado that came through west Greeley/Windsor) are EF0/EF1 category, not like the monsters that blow through tornado alley. I haven't gotten hit by any flying mammals, but there's time. :)
