Russell's Story
Life
Most of you knew me as Russell L. Aikens, Jr. and those of you who were close to me called me by my family nickname "Rip".
Extracurricular activities: Ninth Grade Football #87, Varsity Football #87 and Symphonic Band (alto saxophone).
After graduation, I attended and graduated from Southern University 1985 majoring in B.S. Business Marketing and minor in Computer Science. I worked for three years in the Baton Rouge, LA area in retail and sales and returned to Southern University to work on my M.S. in Computer Science. During that time I co-oped for Monsanto Company (St. Louis, MO Fall /Winter1989-90), Pacific Gas & Electric (San Francisco, CA Summer 1990) and International Business Machines (Austin, TX Summer 1991) before graduating with my Masters of Science Degree in Computer Science in the Summer of 1992. Upon graduating from graduate school, I went to work for Westinghouse Hanford Company in Richland, WA and married Tracy A. Ricard on my 30th birthday August 21, 1993. We don't have any children and one cat named "Lexus" that is 17 years old. Since then we have moved to Phoenix, AZ and I have worked for such companies as Andersen Consulting, Motorola Semiconductor, Apollo Group, Inc. in the Valley of the Sun. I started on the road consulting in 2006 with Diamond Data Systems, Inc. in Memphis, TN/New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina wiped out most of New Orleans, LA and the Gulf Coast. I returned to Phoenix, AZ to work for Tri-West Healthcare, Honeywell Aerospace. My last position has been with ManTech International in Sierra Vista, AZ. I have been in Information Technology for the last 18 years and have been from a Programmer Analyst to a Sr. Engineering Manager.
