Russell Martin:  

I lived in Richmond as a kid, but never attended Richmond High School. I did go to Arthur M. Charles Elementary (4th - 6th grades) and also Pleasant View Jr. High (9th grade), before moving to Ohio. I am interested in catching up with old friends from both of those schools, and also corresponding with anyone who attended RHS in the mid-70s! My first job, (while I was in high school) was as a "roadie" for a professional sound reinforcement company (amplifying live jazz and rock performances). From there I got into theatrical set design and lighting. I studied film at Minneapolis College of Art & Design, but dropped out when I got a chance to work in Hollywood, in motion picture production and post-production. From 1978 - the early 80s I worked on a lot of really bad sci-fi and horror films. It was a blast! I moved to San Francisco, where I returned to college in 1984 to learn to use computers for graphic arts, with the intention of becoming a digital animator. I switched majors from design to geography, once I discovered the then fledgling, but quite fascinating field of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), for linking spatial data with maps.
