Ruth Bakeberg's Story
Life and Being Grateful!
June, 2009--Had a hysterectomy, like so many of my fellow female gender...survived and am recuperating at home, enjoying some time off from my job. Grateful that I have a job that had the benefit of some paid time off for surgery and recovery. Grateful I didn't have cancer and now all my plumbing should be reconnected and last longer...life is good!
Grateful for my husband, who has gotten better with time and for the AA program he continues to work. Grateful for Al-Anon and my program of learning to mind my own business and take care of my own affairs...not always easy, but always the best plan!
Grateful to still have my dad, Leo, who turned 80 in May...Expand for more
and for all the family and friends who helped us celebrate this special man. He is still my hero and role model. Now that he has dx of prostate cancer and it is spreading, I remind myself daily that I must appreciate him and those I love every day and let them know it! Life seems shorter all the time, and I pray that there is a life hereafter to continue this gift of sharing, loving, communicating and learning...
Grateful for my teachers, my sons, my grandsons and good friends. So many things to appreciate and be grateful for...what a waste of time for fear, anger, negativity, or gossip...what a wonderful gift of life we are given--to make the best of it. And, I am learning still...
