Ruth's Story
Learning to type on those clunky manual typewriters at Byers Junior High served me well when I went to college and typed all those term papers. The advent of the computer and my knowledge of the keyboard was a breeze because of this early training. working there years later working with many of the faculty from 1966.
Another huge influence on my life: the three years of school choir that bestowed discipline, countless rehearsals for seasonal programs, competitions, and musical shows. This wonderful outlet that came with finding my harmonizing voice as an alto. It helped that I read music and played the piano thanks to my mom enlisting the aid of a number of optimistic piano instructors in my childhood.
