Ruth's Story
Hi Everyone
I am happy to have this opportunity to say hello and share a few moments of my life. I am 46 years old and have not had any true contact with you all since I left McMain in 1979.
In 1980, I had my oldest son Paul and right afterwards I became licensed as a practical nurse. Through the following 28 years, I've owned my own business and worked in the medical industry throughout this period. Six years ago, I returned to school to receive a degree in Business Management and Administration. I presently am attending University of Phoenix for my Master Degree in Business Administration and Excelsior College for my Registered Nurse degree.
I married my soul mate in 1986 and remain married to the same gentleman.
We have three children together, the eldest is 22 years old and the youngest is 16. Between us, we have a total of 8 children ranging from age 40 to 16 years old.
My oldest three sons and daughter April lives in Houston Texas. I have one step daughter in Raleigh North Carolina and one is Lake Charles Louisiana. My youngest son and daughter both live with me and my hubby in Conway Arkansas.
My son Paul had two sons that were premature and they died about five years ago and he and his wife divorced.
My oldest stepson, married twice, divorced twice but have three lovely children.
My oldest stepdaughter, married, has four children, 2 boys, 2 girls, and two grandsons. Ha, that makes me great grandma.
The second step daughter has 3 children, no grandchildren.
As you probably guessed, my grandchildren and children are the same age.
My husband worked for the City of New Orleans for over 25 years until Hurricane Katrina. After the storm, we moved to Lake Charles Louisiana and had to ...Expand for more
uproot due to Hurricane Rita.
We ended up in Conway Arkansas, which is 22 miles from Little Rock. We found a home and decided not to return to New Orleans.
Ernest, my husband is running his own carpentry business and I am a quality control nurse at one of the long-term care facilities.
My next stop will be Los Angeles California where I plan to continue my work in the medical industry but more at the administrative level than practical (hands on).
My mother died two years ago, she battled pancreatic cancer for 29 days after diagnosis. She was living in Houston Texas but her dying wish was to return to New Orleans to live the rest of her life. My sisters and I moved her back to New Orleans and took care of her until her demise.
I have 11 brothers and sisters. Many of you may remember my youngest brother Joshua, who I brought to school on many occassions after my father's death. Joshua is 29 years old and live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Joshua is an AIDS victim and is doing fine as of now.
For those of you who know my sister Belinda, she has two sons, both are afflicted with sickle cell anemia. She is a grandmother. One cute grandson.
My brother Jeff has five children, six grandchildren, recently his daughter had twin boys.
My brother Kenneth has one son and two grandsons.
My younger sisters and brothers have children and some are genuine grandparents.
My family and I donate and support the cancer research institute and we ask our family members and friends to support a just cause.
