Ryan's Story

Some of this comes from the Story Wizard thing, but mostly it's just random thoughts about the past. What I remember best about my time in high school is hanging out with the few close friends I had. I remember the time I spent volunteering at Peter's Stables as the time that shaped me into the person I am today, obsessed with old music, hippie values, and somewhat of a free spirit. It's amazing how much the farm manager (a worn out old hippie) influenced my life. I remember the Theatre Co-Op program in the second semester of '00-'01 as being the best times of my high school life. To quote (with a slight alteration) Bryan Adams: "Oh when I look back now, That [semester] seemed to last forever, And if I had the choice, Yeah - I'd always wanna be there, Those were the best days of my life." And it's true. The only part of high school where I felt I actually belonged. At present (March 2009) I'm on a temporary lay off from my security job (Go Recession!) and in school to become an Electronics Engineer Technician. Although, I still hope to actually finish a manuscript and get a novel published at some point in my life, even if I have to print it myself and sell if at a price low enough to cover the printing cost. Right now I'm living in Kitchener, ON and will probably stay here once school's done so I can get a job with RIM or COMDev, although I've considered working for OPG in Darlington for a nice change of scenery. There's two people from my past I'd love to meet up with again. One is Paul McGhie, he didn't go to PDCS but we met at Peter's Stables and throughout High School we were nearly inseperable on weekends and summers. He was one of the best friends I had growing up. The other is John Kuchar, the barn manager from Peter's Stables. Now that my hippie values have solidified a bit more it'd be nice to talk to him about the old days when he was fighting the man and the vietnam war. Also anyone from theatre Co Op would be great to meet up with again. Another Story Wizard idea, What's been the biggest suprise? Maybe the fact that I'm still single, well not really still single but more so single again. At the tail end of high school I was in the midst of a 2 year relationship, followed shortly after by a 6 year relationship, and now I find myself back out in the dating world and no idea how to do it. I mean, the relationships I've been in more or less fell into my lap and the only experience I have at picking anyone up was back in high school, I've never had to do this in the adult world. Which teacher would I love to see again? The Story Wizard asks. Well, there's a few. Mostly English/Drama teachers. I'd love to see Shep, Mrs Maki, Mr Whitman, and Mrs Smith again. They were all very large ...Expand for more
influences on my life through school. Both on my writing and my literature. I really hated Shakespeare through school but now I kind of enjoy it. Which is mainly thanks to Mrs Smith for having us perform some and REALLY having to understand what was going on to do it right and Mrs Maki for introducing me to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead which is still fantastic to this day. Another teacher I'd love to meet again is Mr Blake from Grade 7 at Doverwood. I still remember when he cancelled Geography and History to teach us all how to play Euchre, a skill I use quite often inbetween classes in High School. Now it's asking what happened to my first crush. To be honest I'm not sure, and I'm still reluctant to give any information away, even though it's been 8 years since high school. It started in grade 7 and has been in the back of my mind ever since...maybe one day... Right from the Wizard: My best friend would tell you I'm completely insane, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as shy and quiet. Woah, Style. There's been a lot of changes there. Originally it was always jeans and T-Shirts, which I still wear when going to classes or to get grocies or whatever. Later in high school I had some sweater vests, which looking back may have been kind of lame, with khakis. Now I go for bright. Bright yellows, oranges, reds, and blues. Fashion Police tell me primary colours don't go well together but I beg to differ. Plus my new yellow shoes are just aewsome! Now it wants to know what I could do-over if I had the chance. Probably force myself to overcome the shyness I suffered from in High School, like I have lately in my life, and been more social. I'd love to have made more friends and even kept a few after school ended. That probably would have made my go through school a lot more bearable. In 10 years I'm hoping to have a decent job, a nice house and hopefully have settle down with someone. In reality who knows. The way American policies are going maybe I'll be hunkered down trying to survive a nuclear winter, or still out on the streets waving signs telling them not to invade whatever country they want oil from next. It now asks what would suprise everyone at my reunion. I'm really not sure on that one. Hopefully I'll be a bit more social than I ever was growing up, but once I'm back among all those faces I could revert back to the shy loner I always was. I guess it'll be a wait and see kind of thing. I think that's all I'm going to write in here for now. The rest of the Wizard ideas are lame and I'm not sure what else I can add. So if you're reading this and want to get in touch with me, feel free! Even if you didn't know me very well (or at all) back in school.
