Koa aka Salvador's Story

Life Hello to everyone! Most of you will remember me as Salvador "Sal" Feliciano, the Army Brat from Ft. Totten. The following is my life in a nutshell. 1. Joined the Army in 1979. Army Aviation. Helicopter Mechanic (Huey), floor maintenance supervisor and crewchief. 2. Stationed at Ft. Benning twice, Ft. Ord California (now closed), Ft Rucker Alabama, Camp Humphreys, South Korea (1 year). Was in Thailand for one month and Honduras for three months. Ft. Huachuca Arizona for three months. I forgot, Schofield Barracks Hawaii, three years. I knew I forgot something. 3. Certified as a Army "Aviation Life Support Equipment" technician and over survival specialist. Married. My wife is from Hawaii, born and raised there as well as my son who is now 21 (4 Feb 2000). He has graduated the Culinary Arts and International Cooking course here in Puerto Rico and is currently in the Baking and Confectionery course. he plans on opening his own business. 4. I attended and graduated Leeward Community College in Pearl City, Hawaii. Attended the University of Manoa with just 17 credits left for my Bachelors. I guess I should be happy to just have my Associates Degree. 5. Left the military in 1992. Odd jobs here and there such as Sun Coast Motion Picture Company, Circuit City and Radio Shack. 6. I pretty much destroyed my knees in the military by falling off of a helicopter engine deck. Both knees slammed on the leading edge of the deck as I went down and hitting the flight line cement below did not help matters. I retired in 2008 under Social Security and Veterans compensation. You can find me by looking for the big dummy wearing a leg brace on both legs. O...Expand for more
h, happy days. 7. Currently and permanently living in the deep mountain jungles of Puerto Rico and I would not have it any other way. I lived in Hawaii on and off since 1968 and is where I met my wife, in college, LCC. I am currently 61 and she is 44. I did not rock the cradle. She chased me down and locked the breaks on my wheelchair. Face it, bad knees, I could not run, she caught me easy. We have been together for 21 very happy years. She REFUSES to go back to Hawaii. 8. I am retired but deep into photography. Was. I was out for nearly seven years. I am restarting this year. I closed the website to re-work it. I can be found on some Social Media platforms under Boriken Warrior. That's my company name. I concentrate on the Native American Taino Indian culture of the Caribbean. 9. Yes, I survived Hurricane Maria. Three months without water, three months without cell phone, four months without Internet and six months without electricity. I am a prepper and was ready with two generators, food, water filters, portable showers, gas stoves and three solar ovens plus eight radios and five scanners. Much more but you get the gist. My time in the military served me well. 10. I was a comic book geek in school and still am to this day. You may remember me because I was always reading comic books. I have somewhere around 20,000 in my shed, many bought at the candy store close to the school and most worth a good chunk of change today. Many laughed at me. I was ahead of the curve, what can I say. 11. That's all I can think of for now. If I am allowed pictures then I will post some from back in the day and more which are current. Thanks for your time.
