Samuel's Story

Life After graduating dear old AHHS I joined the Air Force (1955-1960). I was an instructor in Electronic Warfare, stationed at Keesler AFB, Miss; Spangdahlem AB, Germany, and RAF Alconbury in England. After discharge I worked for General Dynamics and attended Arlington State. After 2 1/2 years, I got laid off and began a job with Texas Instruments as an Engineering Technician. I ultimately took a leave of absence and stated ASC full time. I graduated in 1966 and began working for Collins Radio Company as an Electrical Engineer. I ultimately got a MSEE from SMU and a MBA from Florida Institute of Technollogy. After working briefly for LTV in Grand Prarie and an E-Systems division in St Petersbutg, Florida, I returned to Dallas and worked with Collins once again (Rockwell International had purchased Collins). I worked as project engineer on several projects and later became a program engineer and program manager on several projects. I retired from Rockwell in 1...Expand for more
998, moved to Dugspur, VA. and converted an 70 year old 40' x 60' barn into a residence, which, in 2002 will open as a bed and breakfast. I met my wife, Geraldine, while working for GD. We have been married 40 years and have three children, all married. My son, Eric, is a CPA with CitiCorp Corporate offices in NY City. My daughter, Christine, has a Masters degree in Speech Therapy and is working as a Speech Therapist in the San Francisco School system. My daughter, Laura, will be returning to the University of Gerogia this year and will resume classwork for Elementaty Education. Since my retirement I have finally been able to start drawing, something that I was very interested in while at AHHS. My interest is pastel portraits. I am very pleased with my progress at this time. I am currently drawing apporximately 50 children and adults (gratis) for practice this year and will try to sell some portraits next year if my speed picks up to a reasonable level.
