Sandra's Story

Life Hi: Wow! It's been 37 years ago since I moved away from Mattawa. Hard to believe because time really flies. I moved away in 1970 after graduation and went to Emmanuel Bible College. I met Dennis Cully there and we were married in 1971. I attended Lougheed Business College in Kitchener for a year and then we moved to Hamilton where my husband attended Mohawk College. After graduation, my husband got a job with Canadian General Electric and we moved to Peterborough where we lived for 5 years. Then we were transferred back to Hamilton and we lived there for 5 years. Then we felt that the Lord was calling us into Missionary Work, so we spent the next 5 years (one in Texas where we studied Spanish) and the rest in Quito, Ecuador. we will never forget it! We moved back to Hamilton in 1989 and my husband got his old job back (in the middle of the recession) and we have been living in Hamilton ever since. We continued using the Spanish by working with a Spanish-speaking Baptist Church here in town. We have made friends from all over South and Central America. We have three grown children, Paul who is 36, Michael, 33 and Sarah 30. They are all living in Hamilton. My husband has been very sick for the last few years, suffering from chronic asthma, so in June of 2008, we moved to North Bay and the fresh northern air has helped him tremendously. I am not the shy country girl that you used to know. I have overcome my shyness and am not afraid of crowds or public speaking. That's about it for now.
