Sandra's Story
Life
Married, divorced, married, divorced, married & divorced. Ok, that's my love life. :) Two sons, & a step-son & step-daughter who I think of as mine. Everybody's all grown up and now I'm a grandmother and the auntie of a cat. I'm a late bloomer apparently. I completed my BA in 2006 and I keep thinking about going back to school to work on a Masters or PhD. Nothing's turned out the way I thought it would and I've learned not to plan more than 6 months ahead. (Even that is generally a waste of time.) But life was and continues to be an adventure. I'm really having a bang up good time. Who knew 'getting old' would be so much fun. It's true, youth is wasted on the young!
School
Except for ROTC, my friends and the rifle team, high school wasn't worth bothering with. I miss the time we spent in the range and hanging out in the classrooms. The highlight ...Expand for more
for me actually came when my youngest spent time in ROTC at Hug. He came home the first day and said "Mom, did you know your name is on some of the trophies in the trophy case!?" Well, yeah... :)
School
1978 through 1994 - off and on at TMCC & UNR.
2001-2006 - study, study, study... Jeez, am I *ever* going to graduate?
May 2006 - finally... BA in Psychology w/minors in Genocide Studies (yes, occasionally depressing) and Addiction Treatment Services (also occasionally depressing)
May 2006 - until god only knows when... Eventually I'll go grad school, hoping to work towards Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology. (deja vu... "Am I *ever* going to graduate?" :)
And to think once I was convinced that 12 years of school was more than enough for any one lifetime.
In the meantime, I'm a substance abuse counselor and I'm still taking courses and studying.
