Sarah's Story
Life
I cannot say enough how fortunate I've been since graudating from Windsor High School. Although in some respects, I miss the idyllic life of a teenager, I've had the time of my life since. Read on for more...
Relationship-wise, I was engaged twice, once to a Jamaican soon-to-be doctor and once to the son of an ambassador from Somalia. Then I met my husband, Frank Angel, in 1998. A mutual friend introduced us, knowing we're both originally from Hawaii. I was blown away that this 6'3" GQ magazine guy was even interested in me. But everything fell into place and funny enough, we later learned that when we were younger we lived four blocks away from each other in Honolulu. We had to come all the way to Poughkeepsie, NY, of all places to meet. lol! Now we are proud parents of a daughter, Kalani, who was born on January 23, 2004.
Education-wise, I attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, accepted as an Engineering Physics major but graduating with a BS in Electronic Media Arts and Communication. Then while working at IBM (more on that in the next paragraph), I attended graduate school at Rochester Institute of Technology and studied Interactive Multimedia Development in Information Technology. And now currently, IBM is footing the bill (yeah!) for my Executive MBA through Cornell University which I should finish in May 2008.
Career-wise, I was hired by IBM as a Software Engineer directly after I earned my undergraduate degree. Since then, I've moved within the company as a Diversity Program Manager, Human Resources Partner, Manager of Structural and Acoustical Solutions, and ...Expand for more
currently now as Senior Manager of IBM Systems Global Product Introduction. I'm lucky that I really love my job. :-)
Community-wise, my husband and I are extremely passionate about giving back to the community. Since 1999, we've owned a performing arts coffeehouse to provide a creative haven for students and professionals, competed in latin dancing and currently now teach salsa through a latin dance company we started, and serve on a variety of board of directors, including Girl Scouts, Dutchess County Youth Bureau, and United Nations Association.
Extracurricular-wise, I LOVE to party in Manhattan, read, write, plan events, dance (salsa and ballet), and spend time with my husband and daughter. Life has been exciting and I hope it will only continue to be an adventure!
