Sarah's Story

Life After leaving Billings Senior High school I moved to Powell Wy. lived there for 2 years, worked on a drilling rig with my boyfriend. We then moved to St Petersberg Fl. My daughter was born there.I also began my healthcare career there and my boyfriend and I went our seperate ways. I then moved to Monroe NC, with my older brother and lived there for about 2 years. I then moved to Denver Co and was there about 2.5 years and worked for Swedish Medical Center. I then moved to Sherman Tx and that is where I went to Nursing school and have been a nurse since 1996. I met who I thought was the one and got married and divorced in a year. I then met David and we have been together for almost 9 years. I moved to Lander Wy in 1999 (took a break from Tx) and lived there for 2 years and Worked for the Wy State Pen. My daughter didn't like Lander so she moved back to Texas to live with David (the only dad she has ever known), and I moved back to Sherman in Feb of 2002. I transferred with the company that was at the pen to the Collin County jail and it was a vast difference from the pen so I left there and went to Health South Rehab Hosp (physical rehab) and have been working there ever since, I wanted to get back into the cardiac and acute care side of nursing and have recently started working at a new hospital here in Plano Tx it is a long term acute care hosp (they are too sick to go to a nursing home, but have run out of the short term benefits allowed them by either medicare or their insurance). Yes I am working two jobs. I have traveled all over the US and am taking my second cruise this summer. I went to Jamaica on the first one and will be going to the Virgin Islands on this one. My daughter is in the school band and I am busy with her school activities and as some people c...Expand for more
ollect stray animals I collect stray kids. At this point I have 5 teenagers ranging in age from 14 to 19 living at my house. These kids are the ones that society has allowed to fall through the cracks and I am giving them a second chance. Their parents are not interested in what they do and where they go. They know that they always have a safe place to be where they will get three squares and warm place to sleep or in the case of the Texas summers a cool place to sleep. I am mom to many kids and know that I can't save them all but I am willing to give every opportunity to those who need it and are willing to work for it. It has been two years since i wrote this and wanted to add an update. I am still at the LTAC. I am now critical care certified and will be starting towards my BSN in the fall of 2005. I am homeschooling my daughter and she will hopefully be graduating in the next year. Still in Texas and missing the Montana winters more and more. Till next time. Time flies when you are having fun. I have moved on and I am now in Washington state and loving life. I have 5 grand bbs number 6 is on the way, and I finally found my childhood love. We have been on many adventures in the last 6 years and life has changed so much since I last updated this post. I opted not to go for my bachelors and toughed out 20 years as an LVN. I have since retired and I am now on to my second career Engineering. Yep got tired of all the BS with nursing and decided that it was time for a change. Took almost a year off to regroup and mourn the loss of the Nursing and have been in college for a year and starting into my second year. Never too old to learn something new. I did start towards my BSN and for health reasons had to stop. Life is good and hope everyone is having as much fun as I am.
