Sarah's Story

Life Where to start . . . I have been living in St. Louis, MO for almost 6 years now. I stayed in Columbia after high school and eventually graduated from the Unvirsity of Missouri -- Columbia, School of Law w/ a J.D. in 2002. I received a Certification in Taxation Law. Passed the MO Bar Exam in 2002 as well. Graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Finance & Banking also from UMC in 1998. I will begin classes for my LLM (Master of Laws) in Taxation at Washington University here in St. Louis in January. I spent a total of 8 years at Mizzou - go Tigers!!! I am currently a Senior Tax Attorney with Emerson Electric at their world headquarters here in St. Louis. I was previously with PricewaterhouseCoopers in their St. Louis office. While at PwC, I spent time in the state and local tax area, high net worth federal tax adivising and also international taxation. I never would have guessed in a million years that I would be interested in tax law. That is really why I went to law school - to get away from my finance degree! But, after taking a few tax law classes, I knew I had found a field I really enjoyed. So, here I am! I am married, no children and two dogs. I may have children someday, just been a little busy w/ work the past few years. My husband is the Director...Expand for more
of Risk Management and Legal Affairs for a large corporation here in St. Louis. He is originally from Lebanon, MO. While I was on the consulting side, we both traveled quite often, so we were happy when we are both home! Wtih no kids, we have quite a few opportunities to travel to really cool places. We love vacationing. Our favorite "undiscovered" place is Anguilla, BWI. We went there for our 5th anniversary and absolutely loved it. We hope to return later this summer. We have also been fortunate enough to travel through Europe and many other caribbean locations. We enjoy skiing during the cooler months. In the summer, we spend nearly every weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. In the winter, we spend time visiting my parents in Hallsville or my husband's parents in Florida (they live in Florida in the winter and spend a few weeks every summer at their home here in Missouri). Oh, and we have a great softball team we enjoy playing on in the warmer months! I'm not sure I want to stay in a big city forever, it took me a while to adapt. I almost feel lost when I visit my parents now because it is so quiet and peaceful. I am hopeful that one day I will live in a more rural area. For now, the city will do. There are lots of things to keep me busy here!
