Sarah's Story
After graduating from Williams College with an English major, Math/Art minors (unofficial), I went to work for Digital Equipment Corporation in their Financial Development Program. It was either that or move to NYC to work in a (then) big 8 Accounting firm. I managed to get a lot of Accounting training without having to live in the big city.
I worked there for five years in a variety of positions within the 495 area of Massachusetts. While I loved what I did, I wanted to move into Marketing, so I went back to business school.
I was REALLY ready to try something different, so I went across the country to Berkeley. I fell in love with the school and the area within the first few days. While there, I was a Teachers Assistant for an undergraduate business class and two graduate classes. I worked in the admissions office, marketing the program to prospective students and I was elected to be the VP of Information Systems. unt my b-school friends as some of my closest, even though they now live all over the world.
After graduating, I went to work for Clorox to get the best Marketing training I could find. It worked! I moved up to Seattle to start working for a relatively small wireless company. I spent 8 years there, helping grow the company from 5 cities and 35,000 customers to nationwide and over 20 million customers. I worked with some terrific people who have remained good friends and had fabulous experiences.
When I left, I meant to take a year off but ended up picking up a consulting job out at Microsoft. That led to another with a small consulting company, which took me to some really fabulous areas of the world: Melbourne, Warsaw, Rome, Munich, etc. The people at EMM Group are smart and know their stuff. I have the highest respect for them and their work. However, a great opportunity came my way and I left to join Expedia as the VP of Brand Marketing. I have been there for almost a year and half now. If you see the commercial with all of the suitcases running around the world, that was mine!
