Scott's Story
Life
If you knew me in Ridgecrest, sit down before you faint. After leaving Ridgecrest and spending two years in prison, I rediscovered my faith in God, and asked what He had in store for me. When released I moved to Bakersfield and met a wonderful lady, Leah Machelle Phillips, who became my wife on August 10, '85, and has blessed me every day since. We have an awesome thirteen-year-old daughter who is an absolute delight, but growing up way to fast. In '92 we moved to Fort Worth, Texas where I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I earned a Graduate Diploma of Theology in May of '98. While in Seminary, I developed a nationally recognized award winning design team for The Fred Parker Company, and elite custom homebuilder in Fort Worth. After graduation, a church in So Utah called me as their pastor. The church has grown from an average attendance of 30-40 to a high attendance of 108 in worship and averaging in the 80's and 90's. Since arriving, I designed a new facility for the church, which we dedicated July 6, '02. My biography is more about God's ability to take a broken piece of clay, and use it in itÂs broken condition to share His grace than about my achievements. If Jesus would do this for me, He desires to and will share His grace with you if you will but ask. Jesus loves you and He died for your sin. WonÂt you ask Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior? Please e-mail me if you have or you have questions.
School
I attended almost all the elementary schools in Ridgecrest and on the base. I also attended Amy B. Seibert in Bakersfield. Murray was my Jr. High School, blowing James Munroe away in Basketball every year! I attended Burroughs for the first half of my freshman year when I was expelled. he second half of my freshman year and my sophomore year. After faking as if my life was back together, I moved back to Ridgecrest and went back to Burroughs. I dated Judy Murphy for a year, so I stayed somewhat straight for my jr. year, and then dropped out of high school half way through my senior year in 1979. In 1980, I aced the GED exam to get my equivalency certificate.
College
I have attended Cerro Coso College, Cal State Bakersfield, and Mira Costa College in Oceanside, and taken correspondence courses from Liberty University. I finally ended up at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas, earning a degree in theology with a minor in building design technologies.
Workplace
Took a church in Cedar City Utah immediately on graduation, and still serving as pastor. When I first came, the church was running between 35 and 45 and meeting in a university. 4-1/2 years later, We purchaced land, I designed and new facility, we have moved in and are now running between 75 and 85 in worship. It is tough in Southern Utah, but rewarding. God is blessings as we faithfully reach out to the lost in this predominantly LDS area. Could use your prayers. It's now 2007, and I have been serving in a small church in the great town of Eakly, OK for a little over two years. God is still blessing, and we could still use your prayers! In Christ, Scott
Military
It's funny, but my biography is short and simple. I inlisted, my recruiter lied, so I took a ride. He tried to call me in, but I told him I would hide. Two week later I'm honorably discharged from the inactive reserves. Wish now I would have gone ahead and went active. Probably would have saved a lot of headaches and learned some discipline. I have tremendous respect for those who serve. You are the heroes of our nation and you have my prayers continually.
