Scott's Story
Life
Hi. After finishing my BA in Political Science and Masters in Public Administration from KU, I lived in Washington D.C. for a year. I returned to Topeka to work as a Fiscal Analyst for the Kansas Legislature for a decade. Then I was the assistant director (and acting director) of a state agency in Topeka for a couple of years.
By the mid-90's, Kansas was on the cusp of evolving into the hate-based, right-wing theocracy that it is now known for across the nation today. I fled the brewing religious fervor of Topeka for Tucson, Arizona in 1997 and was thrilled to finally live in a tolerant community for the first time in my life. I built a wonderful little southwestern-style ranch house close to work, and hosted 27 out-of-state visitors over a four-year period (not counting repeats). to be bullies (they are everywhere, I guess).
So I moved to Phoenix 5 year ago, got a challenging job that I love with great co-workers. I've been a budget analyst for 21 years now and wouldn't want to do anything else. I bought a condo loft in downtown Phoenix, just 10 blocks from work, and have completely adapted to living in a county with 3.6 million people.
I read a LOT, am attached at the hip to my laptop, have become a real indoor enthusiast, have gone pro at sleeping, and have become devoted to my cat (Sneakers). I've been in 40 states (I swear I will hit them all), spent a summer traveling and going to school in Europe in 1979, and really appreciate living in a city with a real airport. My Mom is still in Salina and my sister is in Oklahoma. My sister's three kids have graduated college and are living in California, Nebraska and Kansas.
