Sean's Story
Life
The past twenty years in 4000 characters or less: Graduated, went to UMass Amherst, spent junior year at Oregon State in Corvallis on an exchange program where I met my eventual wife, Kris. Got back to UMass, graduated in 1992, civil engineering, graduated 1994 with a masters in civil engineering - transportation.
In that time frame I played collegiate club volleyball, coached a little league baseball team, and drove across country (twice). The highlight of the volleyball career came in 1991 when we went to the "Nationals" in Buffalo NY. I still play some volleyball, though it's now Portland Rec. League. The little league team was in Amherst, MA where I was an assistant coach. I took pride in working with the younger and less skilled players to make them better. Driving across country is something for the young and energetic. I drove to Seattle recently, and that was plenty far enough, thank you.
After school was done I got a job in Oregon working for the Department of Transportation and got married in 1995 in Corvallis.
Moved to the City of Beaverton as a Transportation Planner in 1997, had enough of the public sector and went to work for a private architecture/engineering firm Group Mackenzie in 2005. (Feel free to Google).

tored at-risk youth, became a Professional Engineer (PE), bought a house, lost a parent (Dad), and became a High School Baseball/Basketball official. The mentoring was a year long program with Committed Partners for Youth, kind of a "Big Brother/Big Sister" on steroids. I worked with an 8th grader who ended up spending most of the year long committment in juvenile detention. But it was a rewarding experience and I remain friends with some of the other mentors. I've been a baseball umpire for over 15 years and basketball referee for just under 10. Baseball is my 'primary' sport.
In 2009 I was the home plate umpire for the Class 5A High School Championship game. There's the opportunity to move on to work small college baseball but that requires more time than I am prepared to give at this point in my life.
We have one daughter, Erin. She's 6 and developing into an athlete. Winning blue ribbons in track and playing soccer on the team that I coach.. And around the end of March 2008 we had a second girl. (Sarah Jane was born on March 30, 2008) She's adorable. Erin will be six this year
If you find yourself traveling through, feel free to look me up. The pacific northwest is renown for it's coffee, beer, and wine, I'll buy the first cup, pint, or glass.
