Shannon's Story
Life
Since 1992, I've been living in Washington, Indiana, with my husband, Chris. We have three daughters: Jenna, 12; Emmalee and Ellise, 8-year-old twins. We also have 3 dogs named Blackie (original, huh?), DJ, and Sweet Pea. I never really envisioned myself as a 30-something, van-driving, soccer mom, but I am! Between soccer games and dance lessons for the girls, we seem to be on the go quite a bit.
After a long haul of working at North Knox High School, I have now been teaching at Washington High School for the last several years. It's so nice being only 5 minutes from home instead of 30! Thankfully, I no longer have any coaching responsibilities.
I finally completed my master's degree requirements in June 2008. What a relief that is! Now I can finally catch up on some sleep!
Despite my crazy schedule, I would love to hear from old friends and former students. I e-mail people as often as time permits.
School
My best memories of school seem to revolve around being a Starstepper. I was so proud to be a member of that dance team! I think I lived, breathed, ate, and slept Starstepp...Expand for more
ers! Believe it or not, I still remember a lot of the choreography (practice a routine enough times, it's bound to stay in long-term memory) and can even do most of it (it's not nearly a pretty thing to watch, however). Even though I never achieved my dream of becoming a Radio City Music Hall Rockette (too short) or a Dallas Cowboys' Cheerleader (too flat chested), I still feel dance team participation in high school was well worth the pain. Truly, the performances were often my happiest moments. I really am proud of having been a co-captain for such a good group.
My biggest regret from high school is that I wasn't friendlier to all people. I was mistakenly perceived as arrogant sometimes, even though all I really wanted was to fit in with the "in" crowd. Sometimes I hurt some of my truest friends in an attempt to make friends with the popular group and climb the social ladder. For those moments, I am deeply sorry.
My craziest moments usually involved Kim Sims, Misty Easton, Julie Holmes, or the Needmore crew. We always seemed to be doing something that should be blackmail-worthy today!
