Shannon's Story
Life
After graduating, I joined the US Air Force. I was stationed at Lackland AFB for all 4 years. I worked in the Truama ICU, where I met my husband, who was a Military Police Officer. I received my honorable discharge 4/95 and went back to school. Rick and I married 7/95, and had our first son Jake 9/96. Rick received his honorable discharge 2/98 and we moved to Dallas, Texas. Once in Dallas, Rick began working as a Richardson Police Officer, while I was hired on with Target Corporation Assets Protection Department. I have held several positions with the company and am currently working in the Fraud Investigations Department. We had our second son Sam 12/01. We then moved out into the country into a beautiful 2-story house with a lot of land. In 1/02 I was diagnosed with a rare Kidney Disease and will require a transplant in the near future. I miss Colorado and return to visit my Mom and Brother about once a year. It would be great to hear from friends from the past. I guess an update would be nice. We life in Forney, TX, I work for Dr. Wilson and have been there about 3 years. Rick and I are big into PeeWee Football. Jake's team won the superbowl in 2006 and Sam's team won in 2007. We are the Forney Jackrabbits... Rick and I both hold positions on the Football Board. forneypeewee.com check it out sometime. Life is grand.. I would love to hear from all my old friends.

After graduating, I joined the US Air Force. I worked as a Medical Service Specialist at Wilford Hall Medical Center, which is one of three Level I Trauma Centers in San Antonio, Texas. My first year at the hospital, I worked on the Urology Ward. The last 3 years of service I worked in the Trauma ICU, taking care of military and civilian trauma patients. ge, I returned back home to Fort Collins, to plan my wedding, while my fiance' was in Cuba on TDY. After getting married, I worked for State Farm Insurance for a year as a Secretary. We then had our first son Jake and I returned to school. Rick received his discharge and we moved to Dallas, TX. I then began working for Target Corporation Assets Protection Department. I bagan at Target as a Target Protection Specialist. After 7 months, I was promoted to Assets Protection Specialist (catching shoplifters). After another 7 months, I was promoted to Assests Protection Team Leader. I held this management position in the Garland, Frisco and Mesquite Texas stores. Rick and I then had our second child Sam. I returned after my maternity leave and after 4 months I was promoted to Market Investigations Technician, which is my current position.
Military
I arrived at Lackland AFB 4/91. Then basic training started, the longest 6 weeks of my life. The marching the running the studying what a life. But they do get you into shape. I tested out of Technical School, which is a 4 month school. I was immediately assigned to Wilford Hall Medical Center. I worked on Ward 5A, which was the Urology post-op ward. Mostly taking care of newly admitted patients, post-op patients and terminal patients. I worked on the ward for one year. I then was transferred to the Trauma ICU department. Now that was fun. We worked 12 hour shifts, either 6am - 6pm or vice versa. One day on, one day off and every other weekend was a 3 day weekend. Here I took care of critically severe injured patients. I spent time on base with my friend, living in the dorms, traveling to Corpus Christi to the beach and down to Galveston beach to party. I was honorably discharged 4/95. I am now a Gulf War Veteran and proud of that. I had a great time in the military and I loved my assignment, but did not see myself making this my career though.
