Sharon's Story

Okay, I’m trying one more time, was just finishing up, when the computer who rules your life shut down. Here we go again! I started attending AHS in 1972 and left Dec. ‘78. I was shy, as it is difficult time to cogme into a new school especially High School. Those that I spoke with noticed and kid me about my“Twang”. I grew up in Cincinnati and due to to my Dad's job,we ended up in Aurora. After leaving I started at Akron University. During that time I would come home and hung out with Lynn Lewis. We were close during those days. Usually we ended up at the PT. I met a lot of people there, one being my husband, Daniel Olszak. Upon graduating from Akron University with a BSN, a nurse! I worked a short time at St Luke’s Hospital In Cleveland, due to situations that threaten all staff, I left. In the meantime Dan and I moved to Mantua with our ready made family. Dan had a son Jason (3) who lived with us and I had my son Brandon (10 months). Then the race was on. We were always busy, a typical family. Then it got hectic when the boys started sports. They both played baseball (Dan was assistant coach or helped out and I learned how to keep score), and they both played soccer. So those years were a blur with each boy playing a different night, we were on the go as I’m sure many of you were. During these years I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I was very fortunate, I was in the early stages what they now call Progressive//Remissve. So life went on Dan and his brother and brother in law built our home. It became our sanctuary and our place for fun. We had a pool put in, so there was always someone here. We also had a large fire ring. By this time Jason had graduated from Hiram and left to see the country. In the meantime Brandon started at Wright State University but ended up transferring to Cleveland State. He had been offered a job with Belkin helping with concerts, events and eventually being an assistant to the manager of the Odean. So Dan and I traveled, first was Walt Disney World, laughing because we thought we never go back but did. Then off to Niagra Falls and Cooperstown Hall of fame. Several trips to Surfside,SC. We spent a lot of time traveling to...Expand for more
Florida with family and friends. Daniel is very punctual while on Vacation, we literally were the 1st or 2nd ones in the parking lot at Universal Studios. Our ultimate place we love to go to are the Keys. We love to fish. We also took a cruise to the Western Caribbean, my goal was to climb Dunn's Falls. I did so with much help of family and friends Now coming up on 37yrs of marriage we are trying to decide what’s next. Jason met his wife Lynette in Nebraska and are living in Louisiana. Have 3 children, Kaylee 17, Jacob 14, and Brady. He is a Wildlife Biologist, specializes In waterfowl and song birds. He ended up getting his masters at University of Louisiana. Brandon graduated with a degree in Political Science, joined the Coast Guard where he spent two years learning Intelligence. Stationed in Miami he met his wife Alejandra. They have two children Skylar 4, and Erik who will be 2 in May. He went on and got his Masters in Foreign Intelligence. He works in Homeland Security and of course we know nothing than that. We had raised the boy to find something they love and make it your job. They were successful for they both are doing what they wanted. Proud parents. Now it’s time to decide what’s next for Dan and I. My MS is now in the Progressive Stage but it is an unpredictable disease, there is always time for a cure. I have other medical issues that I’m dealing with but life goes on. I have other things I want to do. It is amazing how time flies by. Something about the 60’s that makes you want to grab on to life and enjoy every minute. Faith and love keep me going but mainly my belief in God. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 2021 brought many change’s. Decided to move in February by April 10th we left Ohio, decided on Florida. Currently spending time with Jason’s family, and our great granddaughter Bexley in Louisiana. Hoping 2022 is a quiet year settled into our new home. Update; we have been in our new home for about week and so far are living it, even though we thought we purged we by far did not enough!!!! But as we unpacked we have discovered we didn’t even come close. Final note I have a great granddaughter Bexley and she’s our pride and joy.
