Sharon's Story

Life Hi everyone! I guess "bittersweet" is the best way to describe how things have transpired in my life. I lost my mom just before graduation, and since then, things have been up and down for me. A year after high school I moved to California (not by choice, ask my stepfather) and am still here. Married my soul mate in June 2001 - better late than never I always say! I call this the "sweet" half of my life. No kids, but I guess that wasn't in the cards for us. In July 2008 we had a chance to go back to Virginia and DC, and I got to show my husband where I grew up. That was so cool. He said his family never travelled so he didn't really go anywhere except Kansas City until he married me. I guess I'm good for him. haha... In June 2009 we are heading to Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas (whew!), and I have been to all of those except Oklahoma so that'll be interesting. We get to go to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico - what a blast that's gonna be! (Ooh my aching legs! lol) School OK, I hope I don't embarrass anyone but - in 9th grade I had a crush on an English boy named Richard, and he absolutely HATED me. He was a real jerk. Sat right next to me, too. I can't believe I still liked him after he was so rude to me all the time! I mean, he wrote "Have a nice summer and get off my case" in my yearbook! This was at Hermitage - if you were in Mrs. M...Expand for more
yers' World History I class, then you know who he was! (Theresa Talley I KNOW you remember!) My favorite teacher was Mr. Whitten, my US History teacher in 11th grade at J.R. Tucker. He was hilarious. I had a crush on him for a while too. My best friends at the time were Lynette Lassiter (Hendrich now), who was my very best friend (she went to Godwin - we met at church when we were 10), and Jodi Reid at Tucker. At Tucker I was in Journalism I in 11th grade, and on the literary magazine staff as well. I was in choir in 10th grade, and Mrs. Regan was the teacher. She was a real "b" to me one time when I couldn't afford to buy the last 2 fundraiser candy bars for .50 ("What the hell is 50 cents??" she said.) I said, "It's a lot when you don't have it!" and on top of that my mom was real sick, and when my aunt went to talk to Mrs. Regan she wouldn't talk to her, only my mom. Then she wouldn't let my mother talk, she kept interrupting and talking over her. My mom died 2 years later - she'd been real sick for 4 years already when this happened and Mrs. Regan was so rude we turned her in to Mr. Gilliam, my counselor. I could tell so many more stories but I'd have to publish this! Anybody else have trouble with nasty teachers? Anyway that was my experience in school. Not very pleasant I know, but I learned that people aren't always what they seem. Are you? lol...
