Sharon's Story
Life
Hello fellow Parkway South Alumni,
Most of you probably don't remember me because I really didn't spend much time at school. When I was there, I spent most of my time hanging out in the smoking lounge, which did not serve me well. My sister, Shawn, was one year ahead of me and did much better in school, but we were just laughing that you may remember us best as having the house where you could hang out if you wanted to skip school. The party always seemed to surround us, especially among the most ambitious young criminals and underachievers. In the end though, we both finished that part of our lives without any major scars, unwanted pregnancies, or police records: quite the feat if you remember the crowd we ran with.
I moved to San Diego, CA in my early 20's, getting a BA in Communications at San Diego State University. I lived there for 10 years in the Bankers Hill area, between downtown and Hi...Expand for more
llcrest. Had a fabulous and fun 10 years which included major travel (extensive Mexico, backbacking through Europe, China and Japan), and then had the urge to be closer to family. I couldn't quite bring myself to move back to St. Louis County, so I moved to Chicago to pursue masters degree at University of Chicago.
From there I met the love of my life and we got married recently! Now we live in Detroit. I was able to keep my job as VP of Communications for a public health organization in Chicago, working from home and spending a few days a month in Chicago. I'm loving this part of my life, living in an actual house with a yard, travelling and being active with my new hubby. He has many relatives in Mexico City and Guadalajara, two of my favorite cities, so Mexico plans are always in the works for us. He is also a seasoned traveller so we do well together in that regard. So that's my life and all is well.
