Sharon's Story

What do I say. 30+ years. Catch up. So many things. I am married to a wonderful man, who is a good father, friend and individual who cherish's me, has integrity, and is honest. These are important qualities and I believe is what makes a long term marriage work. He is the sounding board when things in my life don't run smooth. He is a Surgeon and works very long hours. I have just finished Medical School and will start a Residency in Dermatology in June 2011 and I hope I like it so I don't have to transfer to Family Medicine....the projeced end to my current nightmare is.... finishing for ever and ever in 2014-2015. It is a sacrifice being away from my family and having to be a frequent flyer. Holiday times and special family days are the hardest as i cant always pick up and fly home. I knew it was going to be difficult but i did not think it was going to be as hard as it has been and lonely. My beloved pug/bull dog cross and close friends can never replace my family. I have two adult children. My daughter has a degree in Nursing, she married a man similar to her dad. She has knack for animals and may return to school to be a vet. She has trained her little boston to ring a bell to alert them she needs to go pottie. Its hilarious to watch the dog hit a bell to go out. My son has graduated from SFU. He wants to work for the UN (peace work). I would like him to manage my office in the near future. He is very artistic and into Music and Photography. My son's photography work is outstanding he took many photographs at his sisters wedding . My daughter's art talent was evident in Grade 12 when she drew a chalk picture of an Orchid flower. Her teacher kept this picture which upset me as She has never had time to draw another one like it for me . My daughter's artistic talents were amazing at her wedding with Betsy Johnson lacey dresses in Red/Black. The flowers and decor were more than I could ever pull off. It looked like the setting in any high end Bridal Magazine. I am so proud to have two amazing children who are both artistic in similar yet different ways. I was never artistic so I am so awestruck and proud when I see their talents in action. I ...Expand for more
love making crafts and knitting in my free time. I do sell on the website etsy or at the hospital giftshop. My interests are family, friends and fun in the sun when I have free time which recently is hard to find. . I have travelled extensively with our children and as a family. I miss some of my old high school friends such as Lavern Dieno....she was and still is my idol or bff but she married and moved away and we lost touch. Also Margaret K. we had a blast in high school All in All I have fond memories of KG and Eric Hamber.. I also have fond memories of Burnaby South High School and the dancing club as well as,Millside Elementary School I often wondered what happened to Ricky Butler from elementary school Also Greg Teasdale with his red hair, he was my permanent high school dancing partner in PE. He was a good sport. I remember my first date with John Wilson and was heart broken when he moved away when I was in Grade 8. Then I met Manfred at age 13-l4 and dated all throughout highschool only to break up at age l8. He too broke my heart. I married Ralph on the re-bound from high school and this married did not survive many years. Hind sight and maturiity is a good thing. It allows one to realize how hard it is to make a marriage work when one is so young with no family support . Without an education, a career and no support system I now can see a marriage from highschool was doomed before it began. It makes me sad. But I realize things happen for a reason. I met and married my current husband and he is my rock.He is a keeper. 30++++years of marriage. It is not all easy street in a long term marriage but he is calm and laid back.....to my opposite.... I also had my highschool favorites and crushes and often wonder how their life has turned out and what they are up to. Maybe one day I will have time to attend a reunion. I wish I had known KG was having their reunion in June I may have come......maybe next time. I have some highschool "ex"'s I wonder where they are .......who they married........and if they had children etc. We all want to know how our highschool bf's ventured in life. I love to hear how others are doing so send me an email Sharon
