Sharyl's Story

I'm still short, I'm still weird. Some things never change, and now I own that s***. Watch out for the quiet ones. It's true. Married twice. Divorced twice. RELISHING single life; it allows me to do what I want and travel where I like: mostly through the USA. I have been to the UK (I'm going back this April to see Take That), but Italy and Greece are on my bucket list. I was a stage actress/singer/dancer with a few theatre groups, and I was a backup singer for the Edmonton rock band Her Alibi. I directed, music directed, choreographed, plus worked in costume design, hair and makeup, photography and marquee design. I've recorded my own music at several studios in Edmonton. I've been a songwriter and lyricist since I was 11 or so. By the end of Grade 12, I had already penned over 100 songs. That's what this short, weird person was doing after school and on weekends (and many never knew). I also wrote fiction and poetry, and later on, I published two historical-fiction/post-apocalyptic novels. Desiring a new challenge, I decided to jump into screenwriting, and I've been doing that ever since. I still have a few literary projects planned, but most of my work is intended for screen. I played roller derby for over six years, touring the USA and Western Canada to play and knock some people down. I also coached a local junior roller derby team for a couple of years (retired undefeated), but I had to hang up the skates after three concussions and an injured knee. I got my ass kicked constantly, but it w...Expand for more
as freaking rad. My second husband claimed that those concussions are why I'm crazy, but that was diagnosed at 5 years old...so, sorry, James...XD You can't take the credit for that, bruh… I'm still a huge Star Trek fan, and I indulge myself regularly in Star Wars, the MCU, plus gory horror movies and dystopian science-fiction films. I am a proud Thatter (Take That) and Blockhead (New Kids on the Block). I read like a madwoman; but I never have enough bookshelves, and I'm a history fanatic. I am a cat person, a Cafeteria Catholic, and I'm obsessed with anything Titanic. I'm armed with an arsenal of snappy one-liners and Captain America quotes. I love a good bourbon; hell, I love a s***** bourbon. I used to model, I sing in the car, I'm a chronic over-packer, and I fall up the stairs more often than I fall down. I'm a dramatic contralto. I busk in the French Quarter with my ukulele, harmonica, and buckets (sometimes with the Black kids - I always give them the proceeds when we collaborate). I'm like Jack Dawson, "Just a tumbleweed, blowin' in the wind..." [The USS John Paul Jones has been sunk in battle. Aboard a lifeboat, Lt. Alex Hopper looks around at the isolated American and Japanese survivors who are all dejected.] Hopper: It doesn't end like this. Captain Nagata: What do you want us to do, Hopper? We have no ships left. Hopper: We have one. [looks at the USS Missouri as the boats enter Pearl Harbor] We've got a battleship. Captain Nagata: Are you crazy? That's a museum. Hopper: Not today.
