Shawndra's Story
I am definitely a different person than I was in high school. Life is too short and I wasted too much time being timid. I love living life to the fullest and enjoy every day.
The people I met after college say there is NO WAY I was ever shy. They think I am pulling a fast one on them.
Sherri (Green) Cain is still my best friend....we have been through so much together over the years that I don't know what I would do without her! Funny to think that when we first saw each other we both mumbled "B____" and have been best friends since then! We are so much alike!
I graduated from CMSU with a Criminal Justice degree...Thought about law school originally and then wanted to be a homicide detective (GROSS I KNOW). Life led me another direction, I worked in the business world a while, got married, had my son and my views on life really changed! I started out as a substitute teacher and loved working with the kids so I went back to school and got my teacher certification. ...Expand for more
Many people say these days there isn't a lot of difference between education and criminal justice but I beg to differ. :-) With the political scene as it is, I am second guessing my career choice but that too will change in time. We need to let teachers do what we do best TEACH and keep the politicians out of the scene! They wouldn't last a week and the kids would only learn how to lie and cheat!
I have been married for 17 years now and we have 1 son, Jonathan. Jonathan just started high school this year. Having a teenage son kills me most days but all his friends say I am the cool mom. Of course he doesn't see it that way.
Jonathan is the best thing that has happened in my life and also my biggest challenge. We are so much alike that we constantly challenge each other. As an adult that will pay off for him....I keep trying to convince myself of that. I love him dearly and know that my days with him at home are limited. The years go by so quickly...cherish them!
