Shawndra's Story
Life
I got married July 10, 2004 to Gary Russell. We met at Ashland University where we both went to school and have been together about 3 years. We aren't ready for "grown-up" stuff like a house or kids, so we have an apartment right near downtown and a beach.
School
Loved high school and miss playing volleyball and basketball with my teammates. I would say Mr. Goodney freshman English inspired me the most and is a big reason why I got my undergrad and grad degrees in English. I would go back to high school anytime (but just for a little while). Happiest moment was winning the Preble County Cup volleyball tournament my senior year. Craziest night was Randy McKenzie's graduation party. Funniest moments? Too many to count.
College
Went to Ashland University to play volleyball, had the same roommate my whole freshman year but she stayed in a lot and was really shy. She transferred and got married in New York. nior year, I moved into a house with two teammates and started dating this guy seriously but he turned out to be a jerk! At the end of my junior year, I became friends with a few sorority girls who helped me through the breakup and are still some of my best friends. We made a "No-Boyfriend" pact for our senior year but that fell apart when I met my now husband. We dated all through my senior year and then moved in together after graduation. We moved to West Virginia (ugh!) for my new job and graduate school. Now I am finishing up my master's and will graduate this August.
Workplace
I graduated in May 2003 from college and then got the graduate assistant coach position at Marshall University in West Virginia. I will get my master's degree in English August 2005. I also recently moved to Georgia for a new job. I work for a team travel company and am in charge of our volleyball division. I set up international trips for volleyball teams of all ages and levels. It's a cool job and I get to travel around the world for free! This May I'm taking a college volleyball team to China.
