Sheila's Story
After graduation, I went to college, first to ACC, then transferred to UK for my junior and senior years. I majored in Accounting and was in AFROTC, looking forward to graduation and commissioning in May 1976. In my last semester at UK, I met the man of my dreams and Stan and I married in July of 1976. We have had an amazing life traveling, serving our country, having children, and enjoying life. After several years and two children, I separated from the USAF and became a full time housewife and mother, following my husband and his career. We were blessed with a third child (I don't know how many would remember that I was eight months pregnant at our 20th class reunion!!) in Sep 1992. Scott is a member of the class of 2010 and is a lot of fun to be around.
We have lived in Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Ramstein/Sembach Germany; Hampton, VA; Shreveport, LA; Peoria, AZ; Stuttgart, Germany; and finally Yorktown, VA. My husband retired from the USAF in 2002 and works for Lockheed Martin. I am still a stay at home mom, but I'm not at home much. I am the treasurer at my church, teach Sunday scho...Expand for more
ol, lead a Bible study and volunteer at school and in my community.
I love to read and a good mystery can keep me up all night. I try to solve the mystery before the big reveal so I never read the last few pages. I also like to quilt, but I don't have the time necessary to get totally engrossed in it. I have lots of unfinished projects that my descendants will one day scratch their heads and wonder what I was doing with all of this fabric and patterns and stuff. Oh, yeah, my husband does that now...
We have three children--Shannon, our oldest, is married to Matt and they live in Lynchburg, VA. Both graduated from Liberty University and completed their master's degrees during the summer of 2007. Sean, our oldest son, lives in Lynchburg and attends Liberty University. Scott is our youngest and lives at home and enjoys his Nintendo systems.
We have two dogs-Sophie, our West Highland Terrior from Germany, and Sammy, our miniature longhaired dachshund, that we found on my mother's farm in Lawrence County, KY. Both are a lot of fun and love to chase the squirrels in the back yard.
