Sheila's Story
Over six years ago I wrote the story below. A lot can happen in six years especially as we wander into the unknown passage of becoming an elder. Jim died of lymphoma 6 months ago. He went as he wished, quick. May we all be so fortunate. Now I am beginning to adjust to the new normal. Without family and friends it would have been much more difficult. Between us there are three daughters and now three granddaughters. Many things to look to in the future
Enjoy Plentywood if you can make it this summer. I can't make the trip.

At this time in our lives, doesn't it seem strange to think back over our life, what we have done, and where we have been. I can remember sitting under the water tower at the graveyard at the top of the hill behind our house, looking at the stars and thinking I know there's more out there than this. Little did I know what it was, and how I was going to get there.
It's easy to condense your social history into a few short paragraphs of times, places, and events. But what does that really indicate of the life you've lived.
After PHS, off to Missoula, a degree in social work, a marriage that lasted a long>>> time, not necessarily a good time. Two beautiful daughters. Lived in CA, VA, NY, MD, MT, and ...Expand for more
back currently to CA. Daughters now in NY and CA . One granddaughter. I worked in Medical Social work in acute and psychiatric Hospital all my professional life and enjoyed the challenge.
Later, I reconnected with the classmate who escorted me in the Grand March in High School. There was still a connection that became much more. Jim and I have now been married 20 some years, live in CA near my one daughter and family and are enjoying retirement in a lovely active area.
Family and Friends are the most significant part of my life now. The careers have come and gone, the meetings are a thing of the past, and life is good. I take pleasure when my husband is happy, my cat is purring and my family is doing well.
We are now expecting a new grandchild in Seattle this spring from the third daughter that has become part of my family. Little did he know when we married, he gained two more daughters, a dog and a cat, we came as a package deal. I gain a lovely third daughter. Someone knew I should never have boys.
We are enjoying doing some traveling, last fall we toured Italy for a month. I hope that we will do some more. The quest for enjoying what is on the other side of the mountain is still there.
And you-Where have you been, what are you up to? Are you Happy? That is what I wish for all of you.
