Sheila's Story

Life I am widowed after 18 yrs. of marriage. I have 4 children. Elizabeth is married and works at Peninsula Outpatient Clinic. She is 23 married to Jared Stockton, and is the proud mother of Kristen Elizabeth Stockton born May 16, 2006. Shannon has one child, Danielle Marie Dunn who was born 04/30/2004. She brings so much joy to our lives. Shannon is 22. Rachael is in the army. She went to Korea to spend a year there, but liked it so well she extended her tour to 2 years. She is 20, and signed up for human resource specialist and will serve for a little more than 3 more years at least. She is now a Private First Class. Matthew is 18, a graduate of Sweetwater High School. He has already joined the army and will leave for basic training on June 6. He has signed up for military intelligence. I took care of my mother for more than a year before she died, and now I am pretty much being Mom and Grandma. I I live in Sweetwater now, but my heart is still in Madisonville. I go to church in Loudon at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. I babysit Danielle sometimes. I'm not sure if she keeps me young or ages me fast. She 2 1/2 now and keeps me on my toes. Her personality is developing nicely, she is such a happy child. I never dreamed just how much fun a grandchild could be. She brings so much joy to our house it is unbelievable! I don't babysit Kristen regularly, but I get to spend a lot of time with her. I am really lo...Expand for more
ving being Mamaw. School I loved high school! I loved most of my classes, and never had a teacher I did not get along with. I truly loved math classes with Mrs. Inscho. I learned a lot of practical things in General Business, and will never forget the project in economics. It was a real eye opener. I wish my girls could have had home-ec like we had. Some of my fondest memories are times we spent with our friends at lunch. We could go outside and walk, set in the little theater, or just crowd more people around our lunch table. I'll never forget Jimmy Webb and the banana eating contest, or going to math contests at Hiwassee College and Tennessee Wesleyan. I also had a ball when the FBLA went to Murphresboro. I have always tended to be a procrastinator. My close friends laughed when I gave my speach at graduation. Several weeks before graduation, I learned I was 4th in our class and would be speaking at graduation, along with Beverly Lee, Carolyn Tallent, and John Lowry. We had to turn our topics in a few weeks before graduation so the programs could be printed. I was having a terrible time coming up with a topic. Finally, Larry Swabe gave me an idea for a speech on "Planning Ahead". I turned this in as my topic. It was quite a bit later when I actually wrote my speech. Those who knew reaaly teased me about writing my speech, "Planning Ahead" the night before graduation after I got home from class night.
