Sherry's Story
My husband, James, of 21 years (as of June 2008) and I stayed in Oklahoma for a few years and started a family with the birth of our daughter Kristen in 1989. In 1991 my husband re-enlisted in the Army and we moved, with our two year old, to Colorado, where we were stationed at Ft. Carson and we had our daughter Kacie in 1992. We stayed in Colorado until December 1993, when we requested orders for Germany. We packed up and moved our family of four overseas. We were stationed in Mannheim and remained there until December 1999. My son Tommy was born in Heidelberg in 1994. During our stay we were able to travel quite a bit. We traveled all over Germany and we visited Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Spain, Monaco, and Italy. Our whole family enjoyed Europe immensely. In 1999 we moved to Virginia where we were stationed at Ft. Eustis until 2001 when we requested and were granted orders for Germany again. So, in 2001 we moved back...Expand for more
to Germany and we were stationed in Friedberg until 2003. August of 2003 we arrived in Georgia and were stationed at Ft. Stewart. We remained there until 2006 when we requested an assignment in Missouri. We moved to Missouri in May 2006 where we intend to retire. Ft. Leonardwood is our present station and we live in a small town called Rolla. Our children are now 18, 15, & 13. My oldest daughter is considering a career in the Air Force as she graduates this May. My youngest daughter is in the 9th grade and her biggest interests are running track and choir. My son is home schooled at the moment and his interest is Tae Kwon Do, in which he has a green belt. My biggest interests are quilting, working out, & crocheting. My husband has always loved woodworking and it takes up most of his free time. At the moment he is finishing our basement so my mom and step-dad can live comfortably with us anytime they choose. It's been a great 20 years!!
